Recovering Polystyrene

Three Mastapiata MRC ecocentres – from Saint-Hector, Sainte-Justine and Saint-Antonin – will join the Belleville ecocentre to recover polystyrene-based materials.

Polystyrene-based materials come from three categories of objects:

  • Flexible and rigid food containers
  • Packaging
  • Thermal Insulation

Materials brought to the ecocentres must be clean, without labels or packaging film.

The recovered polystyrene is transformed into granules used to manufacture urban furniture and other objects thanks to an agreement between the ecocentres and a local company, in a great contribution to waste reduction and materials recovery

Bravo to the MRC and the ecocentre managers for this inspiring project!
